Nyoman Toya is a wonderfully talented carver/artist who lives and works in a small village on an island in Indonesia. Nyoman has the gift of carving beautiful turtles and sealife into almost living creatures. Once the carving is complete, he incorporates the finished piece onto the root of a teak tree which gives the illusion that the turtle or fish is swimming. It takes Nyoman anywhere from four hours to five days to complete each carving.
